My name is Kirsty Yoxon and I have been a teacher since 2007.
I have had the fortune of growing up on the Isle of Skye but started my teaching journey in Barcelona where I taught for 8 years. I was grateful to receive a fully funded scholarship to complete my PGDE back in the UK and returned to Scotland in 2015 where I started working in Portree High School.
I initially started my online teaching in Barcelona where I taught pupils from all across the world; teaching A level Mathematics and SAT Mathematic for University entry.
When I returned to Scotland I helped develop the Higher Applications course in Portree High School and was the Mathematics teacher for Advanced Higher Mathematics with Highland Virtual Academy which I still continue to do.
I am also an SQA Advanced Higher Maths marker and A level statistics marker.
Even though I never meet my pupils face-to-face I am able to develop a relationship with them and have had lovely reviews about my teaching techniques and effort.
I believe the route to success is confidence and I help build the pupils confidence while simultaneously teaching them content.

Each lesson is tailored to the pupil's needs.
The screen is shared and the prepared lesson can be recorded if the pupil wishes. I share with each pupil a unique interactive whiteboard where the pupil can show answers.
Google classroom and the Google drive is used to share files and assign homework. Each week homework can be set and will be marked and feedback provided.
The lessons are either one-to-one or in a group where pupils can interact and engage with one another, aiding to their learning experience.
